Do you know the true benefits of fiberglass when exposed to corrosion? Hollow metal doors can break down and corrode when exposed to hazardous conditions. Chem-Pruf’s fiberglass doors are able to remain intact when exposed to the harsh elements. From wastewater applications to water processing facilities and more, our fiberglass doors are sure to remain corrosion free! Our doors contain a seamless construction that will prevent any dirt, moisture, and bacteria from breaking through the door surface. Our doors are able to stand up to daily wash downs and offer profound defense against sulfuric acid produced in raw sewage.

This weekend will bring damaging winds and heavy rain to the coast of Hawaii. As Hurricane Iselle drew near the coast of Hawaii’s Big Island, it was downgraded to a tropical storm. Being the first tropical storm to hit the state in 22 years, Iselle brought only strong winds and a large amount of rain fall. Precautionary methods were taken for impact and citizens prepared themselves for the worst possible outcome. Many flights were closed during the harsh weather and local grocery stores are full of customers looking to stock up on necessities.
These types of storms leave damaging conditions, power outages, and high gusting winds and debris. With 65 mph winds, Iselle lowered itself from a hurricane to a tropical storm. This time of the year can be a tough time for certain parts of the country especially in coastal conditions.
Chem-Pruf has a product specifically designed for the damaging conditions one would find in a Hurricane. Our Hurricane/FBC rated storm doors have received Florida Building Code (FBC), IBC and Texas Dept. of Insurance (TDI) approval for installation in high wind coastal conditions as well as meet or exceed the standards set for large missile impact (ASTM-E1886/1996 missile level D), both positive and negative cycle pressure and wind load. Along with certification for Large missile impact (TAS 201), Uniform static air pressure (TAS 202), and Cycle wind pressure load (TAS 203), our doors will provide years of corrosion-resistant service and will withstand corrosive salt air.
Chem-Pruf fiberglass doors are designed to be installed in the worst atmospheric conditions. From coastal applications to Wastewater Treatment Facilities to Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Facilities, our doors are able to hold up against harsh environments. Rust is never an issue with fiberglass doors. Along with our profound quality, we offer a lifetime guarantee against failure due to corrosion. So if your facility is on the coast or in an area with high wind conditions, check out our Hurricane/FBC rated door.

There was an interesting article in an earlier issue this year of Building Design and Construction magazine that discussed the top green movements in the modern industry. The article was by senior editor Julie S. Higginbotham and she was able to layout some great new ways companies are making the switch to more environment friendly features. She goes on to explain how the green building movement in North America will continue to grow and is showing no sign of slowing down.
Chem-Pruf is committed to protecting the environment and to preserving resources by producing products with long service lives and minimal or no upkeep requirements – and that includes no need ever to paint, eliminating possible adverse environmental impact from that activity. Chem-Pruf fiberglass doors have a lifetime guarantee against corrosion, so unlike hollow metal doors, Chem-Pruf doors rarely if ever reach landfills. Plus, Chem-Pruf doors come in a variety of colors and finishes. Below are some of the finishes that are available.
Be sure to check Chem-Pruf’s green statement to learn about how we are doing our part for the environment! http://www.chem-pruf.com/green-statement-library.html
The average service life of a hollow metal door in a corrosive environment is only 2.5 years. Over a 25 year period the door would have to be replaced on average 10 times. The door has to be painted after installation and the paint needs to be maintained. If the door is not painted on a regular basis the door will deteriorate even quicker. So if you estimate the repeated price of purchasing the door, the required maintenance, paint and installation costs, you are looking at a staggering $27,440 over a 25 year period.
Can you guess what a fiberglass door from Chem-Pruf will cost you over the same period? $3,009; this is 9 times less than the cost of a Hollow Metal Door!
Fiberglass doors should be your only choice when corrosion is a concern. Fiberglass doors do not break down or corrode the way hollow metal doors do when exposed to water, corrosive materials or heavy washdown. Chem-Pruf fiberglass doors are chemically welded assemblies, they have a monolithic design so there are no seams, gaps or cavities for bacteria, moisture or dirt to enter the interior of the door. Chem-Pruf FRP doors are manufactured with a permanent gelcoat finish and will never need to be painted.

Why are we comfortable in one place and uneasy in another? Why are we attracted to one product over another? The simple answer is color. Color accounts for a large percentage of our response to an object or a place. Wherever we go we respond to color, but the importance of color is often underestimated. Color use is important to us personally in our homes, in the colors we choose to wear, but color is also very important in the places where we work and visit. For example, Chem-Pruf’s white doors support the various lightening levels required for research compared to other light absorbing door materials such as stainless steel.
