Happy Labor Day from Chem-Pruf!

This upcoming weekend will mark the end of August, the end of summer vacation for students, and the winding down of a season. The first Monday of every September is always recognized as Labor Day and dedicated to the American workers that help this nation succeed and prosper. The weekend is usually celebrated with parades, grill outs, fireworks, and the last of summer festivities. In fact, did you know that the first Labor Day parade was actually on a Tuesday? The date was September 5th, 1882 and even though parade activities were in swing, the celebration was actually a protest march for safer working conditions, shorter hours and better wages. Though the night did end up being a larger celebration with dancing and evening fireworks, much like the fun and exciting celebrations we all know and love today.

Many Labor Day gatherings will take place at local parks and recreation facilities. With warm weather, food on the grill and great music,  public parks will be filled with families and friends enjoying the time off and relaxation. If you’re at a park this weekend you might just see a Chem-Pruf door. After all Chem-Pruf doors are commonly used in parks and recreational facilities because they maintain a level of decorum that is second to none and they hold up against harsh weather, chemicals and animal waste. Plus they never need to be painted and they are graffiti resistant.

So enjoy your Labor Day this upcoming Monday, and if you are going to be attending any cookouts or festivals, be sure to keep your eye out for a Chem-Pruf fiberglass door! Whatever your application, we have the perfect door for you!

FRP Doors for Hospitals and State Facilities

The CDC released data in March showing that 1 in 25 hospital patients in the U.S. is at risk of developing a healthcare-associated infection, and an estimated 721,800 occur annually. The most common infections are pneumonia, diarrhea and urinary tract infections. The sad truth of the matter is that hospitals are full of germs, and patients invariably pass infections on to each other – if not directly, then through the hospital staff with whom they come into contact. Patients can also contract infections from bacterial that live on devises. Frequent hand washing is essential and the basic foundation of all safe care. The CDC recommends hand sanitizers that contain at least 60% alcohol for use in hospitals.

Chem-Pruf fiberglass door has a finish that is impermeable against the daily contact of alcohol based hand sanitizers, thus making Chem-Pruf doors the ideal choice for Hospitals and State Facilities. Chem-Pruf’s fiberglass door is completely seamless, eliminating cracks, seams and gaps where bacteria can hide. This tough, hygienic door can stand up to daily washdowns and rigorous cleanings with harsh chemicals including: Clidox, Quatricide, Spor-Klenz and Chlorate. Plus, Chem-Pruf fiberglass doors comply with NIH Standards, are FDA compliant and when required, are available with up to a 90 minute fire label, storm or STC ratings.

Hospital Door

Chem-Pruf corrosion resistant doors and frames are not assembled using component parts and pultrusions obtained from various sources. They are manufactured completely by hand utilizing only the highest quality raw materials. Chem-Pruf fiberglass doors are chemically welded assemblies with a permanent gelcoat finish, so they provide a high degree of quality, consistency, reliability and eliminates the potential for patients with Pica Disorder to peel and eat the paint normally used on doors.

Damaging Weather Sweeping through Hawaii

Hurricane

This weekend will bring damaging winds and heavy rain to the coast of Hawaii. As Hurricane Iselle drew near the coast of Hawaii’s Big Island, it was downgraded to a tropical storm. Being the first tropical storm to hit the state in 22 years, Iselle brought only strong winds and a large amount of rain fall. Precautionary methods were taken for impact and citizens prepared themselves for the worst possible outcome. Many flights were closed during the harsh weather and local grocery stores are full of customers looking to stock up on necessities.

These types of storms leave damaging conditions, power outages, and high gusting winds and debris. With 65 mph winds, Iselle lowered itself from a hurricane to a tropical storm. This time of the year can be a tough time for certain parts of the country especially in coastal conditions.

Chem-Pruf has a product specifically designed for the damaging conditions one would find in a Hurricane. Our Hurricane/FBC rated storm doors have received Florida Building Code (FBC), IBC and Texas Dept. of Insurance (TDI) approval for installation in high wind coastal conditions as well as meet or exceed the standards set for large missile impact (ASTM-E1886/1996 missile level D), both positive and negative cycle pressure and wind load. Along with certification for Large missile impact (TAS 201), Uniform static air pressure (TAS 202), and Cycle wind pressure load (TAS 203), our doors will provide years of corrosion-resistant service and will withstand corrosive salt air.

Chem-Pruf fiberglass doors are designed to be installed in the worst atmospheric conditions. From coastal applications to Wastewater Treatment Facilities to Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Facilities, our doors are able to hold up against harsh environments. Rust is never an issue with fiberglass doors. Along with our profound quality, we offer a lifetime guarantee against failure due to corrosion. So if your facility is on the coast or in an area with high wind conditions, check out our Hurricane/FBC rated door.
